Dr. Gerner graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Science in 1973 and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1977. He is dedicated to meeting all of the dental needs of the families in his practice. Bioesthetic Dentistry and the treatment of the TMJ and bite related disorders are a specialty of Dr. Gerner’s. He is an instructor for OBI-Orognathic Bioesthetics International, Inc. and is very passionate about educating his colleagues and patients about this program which integrates natural beauty and optimal function. Dr. Gerner continues to devote many hours to continuing education about the latest dental advances. 

Some of Dr. Gerner’s other dental associations include (but are not limited to): Board Chairman, Academy of Bioesthetic Dentistry; Teaching Faculty Orognathic Bioesthetic International, Inc. 1997-present; Part- time faculty member, Creighton University School of Dentistry, 1978-1993; Past President, Omaha District Dental Society, 1993; Past President, Tucker Gold Inlay Study Cub and Aksarben Gold Inlay Study Club; Fellow, International College of Dentists; Fellow, Academy of General Dentistry; Fellow, Pierre Fauchard Academy; Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honorary Society. Dr. Gerner was on the Nebraska Board of Dental Trustees from 1994- 1997. He served as the past President of the Omaha District Dental Society in 1993.

Dr. Gerner is proud to have been very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He earned his Eagle Scout Award on May 27, 1965 and is a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. He restarted and rechartered Troop 378, which had been inactive for more than a decade. He served as their Scoutmaster from 1997- 2004.

When not in the office, Dr. Gerner can be found playing golf, fly fishing and working out at the gym. Dr. Gerner and his wife play golf together and are often visiting their children. The are the proud parents of their architect daughter, their son who is a systems analyst for a corporation in Omaha, and their youngest who is in college in Iowa.
